1. EU citizens to Cyprus now only need a "Resident Permit" visa that lasts a lifetime. This gives access to tax, social services and medical benefits in Cyprus including duty free cars and VAT rebates on property.
2. EU citizens who completed their immigration before the end of 2007 will have had a brown alien card but NO yellow visa. The Immigration ministry have declared that all of these people need to reapply to receive their new "Lifetime Resident Permit". This includes holders of the old yellow temporary residents visas which must be renewed before the expiry date.
3. Non EU citizens have a more difficult task to prove good reason to reside in the EU whether Cyprus, the UK or elsewhere.
